Just when I was getting rested from our Thursday all day roadtrip, we spent the afternoon preparing for our first farmer’s market tomorrow. So, it’s another early night and much earlier morning to find our space and get set up before 9am
Sock continues and Kiri continues with only minor problems. Sock goes with me tomorrow. I expect (hope) to be too busy to concentrate on the shawl.
A couple quick shots from our Heronswood visit. Earlier this year I discovered a most unusual species rose, Rosa sericea ptericantha (aka The Wingthorn Rose) and picked up a small specimem from The Uncommon Rose.
We had barely started wandering through the Heronswood gardens when my eyes were drawn to a huge 6 or 7 foot tall rose with bright red thorns.
A beautiful example of a mature Wingthorn Rose. I’m duly impressed and can hardly wait for our litle toddler to reach a more mature size.
I usually don’t post shots as crappy as this, but I took two closeups of the the thorns and this was the best of the pair and it’s probably going to be a *long* time before I get back north and it’s going to be a number of years before ours looks anything like it.

I had hoped to get a picture of Son of ARAN today, but it’s been a very wet day. Over 0.80 inches since 8:30 this morning and no opportunity to get outside to take pictures. Hopefully tomorrow.
In the meantime, the Kiri shawl is making good progress. The Mohair is not something I want to tink back, so I’m extra careful about counting stitches and making sure that I’m on pattern. That means that for even a slow knitter like myself, it’s slow going. It’s going to be a light and fuzzy little thing when I’m finished - as long as there’s no large mistakes. And I’ve already got someone in mind as the recipient.
This color is just about right (on my monitor) and I’m actually about 6 rows farther along than this photo.

One of those weird Oregon days. Rain, then Sun, then Rain and Sun. It felt like we were working in a sauna. Steam rising from the ground as temperature would rise after the showers.
