FIrst.. Sorry I missed talking to Judy and Sarah. Actually saw Sarah in her booth, but she was busy and I never was able to get back.
It’s been many years since I’ve been to the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival. Many changes, good and bad. Many more vendors. It seems that the number of animals were down from the times we were showing.
My only purchases were a skein of ‘Socks That Rock’ yarn in ‘Christmas Rock’ colorway and a pair of Addi Turbo 24 inch US#1 for socks. Not that I need to start another sock.
Finished out the day at a pub in Northwest Portland and managed to get a picture of one the of plastic ponies tied to a curb horse ring. Still bizarre.

Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival is happening this coming weekend and I intend on showing up for the first time in years. One of our plant sales happens the same weekend and with prep, sale and after sale inventory, there never was time free to head to Canby. This year the boyfriend is around and he *should* be helping. I have Saturday off and Sunday work doesn’t start until 3pm, so I’ll be down for one for at least part of a day. And.. the Feather and Fan shawl will be accompanying me, so if you’re around, look for the pony-tailed old fart with a John Deere cap wandering the grounds …
UPDATE: Boyfriend will be helping on Saturday and so I’ll be down in Canby for most of the day that day.

This coming weekend is the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival in Canby Oregon. A great fall animal and fiber show and sale.
Unfortunately, we’ll miss it this year. We have our final plant sale of the year at Montgomery Park in Portland on Saturday, with setup on Friday and I work on Sunday. I had hoped to get the Son of ARAN in the competetion this year, but I completely missed the cutoff dates and with the plant sale and work I would have had a heck of time getting stuff down to Canby anyway.
The Union Pacific Challenger 3985 was in town this week. The largest steam engine still in operation. It was restored by UP employees and makes regular tours around the United States. It will leave Portland tomorrow, traveling up the Columbia Gorge and further east. Full sized picture linked

A very successful fiber sale today. A lady walked in at the start of the sale at 10am and purchased 9 fleeces. We had only brought 12 fleeces plus processed rovings and so our sale area looked a bit empty for the rest of the day, but the cash box was happy..
Judy (aka Mom) from Persistent Illusion stopped by to admire the Aran and say hello.. Hi Mom..
Finished about 8 rows on the PNW Shawl and had a couple older ladies surprised that a man had the patience to do lace. Mostly had fun being the only grey-haired, grey-bearded, pony-tailed knitting man in the building.
Picked up a nice woven basket from an African gentleman selling beads and baskets.
Overall a very nice day
