What an interesting feeder! I’ve never seen one like that. Local ones are long tubes. I’ve also never seen a hummingbird like that one. He appears larger than the ones I’ve seen locally who never seem to sit anywhere but just hover even while feeding.
I don’t have the Rufous hanging around my yard. I thought mine were the ruby throat kind but that site says those are in the SE. So I guess mine are of the Anna’s variety. And yes, they can drink it up! The Rufous must not be as territorial as mine are. Mine flip OUT if more than one is around trying to feed. And have been known to swoop down on the dogs fearing the dogs would want their nectar. (see, they even act like the ruby throat kind)
I'm 62 years old and living in rural NW Oregon. I've been knitting - on and off - for about 18 or 19 years and have done it all, but prefer knitting lace.

He’s gorgeous. I’ve never seen one of that ilk before. Mostly just rubies about here and precious few at that. There were tons in Maine though.

This is a little female Rufous Hummingbird. Pretty typical size.
The feeder is a Jewel Box Feeder from HummZinger.
I like easy to clean feeders and all of mine are all built much like these.
I have never seen this type, we have almost no hummingbirds around here.
That one sure looks like a strawberry which grew wings!!!

Wow! Love the feeder–how nice to have it hanging on the window so close! It’s good to hear from you again!
