So good to see you back! Go ahead and feel down, but it’s O.K. to enjoy things, too. My MIL passed 15 years ago the weekend after Thanksgiving. It was years before we had anything like a normal holiday season. Be gentle with yourself. The world will be here when you’re ready. And keep on knitting. I’m going to make spaghetti.

I’m so glad to see you back. I know how hard it is to lose a parent, especially one that you felt so close to. It’s been 4 years and sometimes I see something that my dad would have liked and think, just for a second, to tell him…and then the grief comes all over again.

For sure I’ll try your recipe. I’m getting brave these days. I think 57 will be a good age for learning things.

Welcome home. You don’t have to “get over it” but probably reaching out and being social will help you while you adjust. Feelings come in waves and it’s OK to feel good for a while before the next sad wave comes along. The waves come further apart as time progresses.

I am glad you are raising your head after your mother’s passing. If your experience is anything like mine, you will have good times and bad times for a while, then the good times and the good memories take over. I think of my parents most fondly whenever I cook one of the things they loved. Sending good thoughts your way.

Sorry for your loss, Jerry, but glad you’re back to communicating on your blog. Never doubt that there are a lot of us that read it! I’m sure you will feel your mother’s presence whenever you are quietly enjoying a beautiful sunrise or sunset or watching the breeze move through the trees.
