Two down — one to go

Finished the second of three scarves for another of the young ladies at work.

This one is done in Lion Brand Yarn — Moonlight Mohair in the Northern Lights colorway.

Jamie's Scarf

This morning I put out a fresh block of suet and in less than an hour, our little local flock of Gray Jays discovered it. We had five jays standing in line to get their turn at the suet. Not a common bird at our elevation

Is each scarf made from one skein of yarn? What size needles?

What a sweet little jay. I was hoping to see some Canadian Jays when I was back home, but didn’t spot any. We call the “Gorbies” because they are such piggies but they sure are beautiful!

I had always assumed that the Gray Jays were *much* higher altitude birds, until recently.

We would always see them at higher elevations in the Oregon Cascades, where they are known as “Camp Robbers” for their activity around camp grounds. Leave food laying around too long and the Gray Jays will show up to help themselves.

Our local flock is unusual, because we are at a relatively low elevation, but they’re opportunistic and since both our neighbors and we do quite a lot of feeding in the winter, they have moved in.

Scarves. Each from a skein of Moonlight Mohair on US#13 needles. Simple pattern. The ones I’m making now are 14 stitches wide. Cast on stitches, slip one, knit front and back into next stitch, knit to last three stitches, knit two together, knit last stitch, then knit back on wrong side. Work until you’re tired of garter stitch.

I’m glad to see you’re back and feeling less blue, Jerry; I’ve missed your lovely wildlife photos and hearing about your adventures.
