Another sucky week… :-(

It’s been nearly a week since my last posting and I don’t have a whole lot to show for the week.

No real progress on the little sweater, a total of three people have quit the restaurant in the past three weeks and we’re running at the minimums to keep it open. One of the counter gals worked 16 hours overtime this past week and with only two kitchen closers, my hours keep butting up to the 40 hour work week and sometimes flowing over. Only good news is that I got another $.25/hour raise (now @ $10/hour), but with that comes that additional requirement that I get a OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission) alcohol servers permit and start pouring beer and wine.

Because I pulled money out of my retirement account last year to pay off some bills (and didn’t have enough held out for taxes), my tax bill this year is over $3.000 for federal/state taxes. And, of course, I don’t have an extra $3,000 laying around in an account to pay it off, so… I dropped a $100 check in each tax return and started the process to pull more cash out of retirement. This time I’ll make sure enough money is withheld to cover next year’s taxes. Bah…

No culinary classes since the pastry class and nothing planned for the rest of this month. Too much work and too little free time. I’m hoping things quiet down in May and I can restart the classes.

Ain’t life great….

With the sun comes the rain. All we can do is take life one day at a time as it comes our way.

Hang in there, you’re certainly due some sun!

Between the penalties and the tax, Borrowing from your retirement can be really expensive–not to mention not so good for when you get old. If your credit can stand it, you may do better taking out a loan or even using a credit card–but you probably know this already. Enjoy your blog, hope things get a bit more pleasant for you sooon.

I have always wanted to learn to knit. I tried when I was 8 and made a crooked pot holder that looked more like a hat for my cat so I put it on the cat.
