Finally… Something finished

Completed the little gansey sweater sampler this afternoon. I’m beginning to think I really need to do a sweater again. I’ve only done two, but both were learning experiences and as slow as this was to complete, I really enjoyed it.

Gansey Sampler

6 inches across at the waist. 15 inches from cuff to cuff. 8 inches from collar to waist. Don’t know *what* I’m going to do with it. Anybody have a use for a tiny sweater?

It’s beautiful, Jerry. Find a naked teddy bear to dress. Then give it to a shelter or the police for a distressed child.

That’s so cool! What a great idea for learning the techniques. And yours looks very cozy. Chery’s idea is a good one.

Gorgeous sweater! You’ve got cats! Make one of them model it! Do you recommend any books for the first time gansey knitter?

Molly.. The best book - IMNSHO - is Beth Brown-Reinsel’s Knitting Ganseys. Clear explanations and multiple patterns to choose from.

I really love your sampler sweater. I was wondering if you designed it yourself or if you followed a pattern. I am so inspired now to start out first with a sampler. There is a fantastic pattern for a men’s Gansey in beautiful Finnish fingering weight wool in the book Latvian Dreams from Schoolhouse Press in case you haven’t seen that one yet.

How about gifting it to the intended recipient of the full-size version? Sounds like it might fight a Barbie-size doll. If it were me, I’d head to the thrift store and see if there’s a doll it would fit.

Or you could knit a doll to wear it!

So cute! Makes me want to knit a gansey — at least a little one, I also have this book!
