Coming to the end of my weekend (Monday and Tuesday), my work schedule is starting to become routine. Wednesday 4 to close, Friday and Saturday either 4 or 4:30 to close and Sunday sometimes short shift (3-8) or 4:30 to close. Nice to be able to plan a week..
Feather & Fan shawl is *slowly* coming along. Mostly I’m not able to get my usual 1 hour of work each day, but I try to get at least 1/2 hour on it each day. At over 400 stitches each round, it means about 1/2 round each morning.
We spent the day in Portland walking around downtown, focusing on the Old Town area. Portland has managed to survive the Urban Renewal frenzy of the the 1960’s and a large number of their old buildings have survived. A few pictures from this afternoon’s walk
The gothic 1879 Bishop’s House, converted from a Catholic bishop’s home to a Chinese tong’s headquarters, a speakeasy and finally a restaurant.
Next is the 1885 Grand Stable and Carriage Company Building
The 1889 Glisan Building, home of Kell’s Irish Pub
The 1888 Skidmore Fountain. Built with donations from an early Portland pharmacist, David G. Skidmore. It was build to provide water for all the horses that provided motive power in Portland at the time.
And finally, the east wall of Lotus Cafe and Cardroom. A Portland institution since 1924.
