She’s done, Jim

Faroese Shawl was completed this morning, washed and blocked. I’m not happy with the final graft at the top center, but grafting is not one of my better techniques. Still I’m pretty happy with the results.

Our spring peepers are mostly gone. Still there are a few late ones that are still hanging around waiting for the frost to hit and they’ll move back into the woods. This little guy is weighing down one of the pitchers of one of Eileen’s carnivorous Pitcher Plants.

Rumley…Good days and bad days. We’re able to get a bit more food down his throat without throwing up, but he’s so thin. Still he seems much less sick and much more comfortable that he was a week ago.

Cats and Shawls and Flowers

August 29th, 2005 Jerry 4 comments

Rumley… Inching along, getting better. Not as miserable looking as he was a couple of weeks ago. Still force feeding him, but we haven’t had a puke for a couple days now.

Shawls… Starting shoulder shaping. Stitches decreased enough to be able to stretch it out on the circulars I’m using and able to get a shot the *whole* shawl.

Faroese Shawl

Flowers… Did you ever see those little plastic pots of Venus Flytraps? I did, and I tried a number of times to grow them, with the usual result of dead plants.

Eileen has a knack with carnivorous plants. Her collection includes sundews, pitcher plants and flytraps. Not only do they survive, they bloom.

Quick update

August 26th, 2005 Jerry 1 comment

Just past 11pm and I’m sitting here trying to wind down from a busy evening at the restaurant. I’m *really* not used to being on my feet for 6+ hours of nearly constant work.

Faroese Shawl is coming along nicely. The two side panels are finished with lace, but the central panel/gusset will continue lace to the top. Looking ahead, I’ve got questions about shoulder shaping a bit later in the pattern and if anyone has done this one before, I’d like to hear from you.

Faroese Shawl

Rumley is still doing well. Still thin. Still not eating on his own. But, he’s still alive and still making *tiny* steps of progress. We still have hope
