Plants

A walk around the farm this morning revealed a number of plants in blossom, despite the crappy spring/summer we’ve had so far.

Early last year I purchased a hardy Passion Flower that produced just a single flower. My luck with Passion Flower has been miserable, but this may be be turning point. This plant is absolutely covered with buds and has been flowering continuously for the past two weeks.

Eileen collects carnivorous plants, especially Pitcher plants. These guys blossom early, but even I find the plants intriguing.

I love the red veining. Sarracenia flava variety

Pitcher Plant

A native to southern Oregon – Darlingtonia californica.

When I lived in Monrovia, CA I had a passion flower plant growing along our fence. I had no idea what it was….at first it was just a plant taking over the fence. Then one day we came home and I saw a flower on the plant, but it looked plastic. Soon as I touched it I knew it was real, and after that I had flowers growing on it all the time. I loved that plant!!! They are so unique.
