Tired
This has been a trying spring/summer for us this year. Weather and the need to catch up with stuff we’ve let slide here on the farm and nursery has meant long days. Mostly I’ve been too tired in the evening to make coherent posts. We’ve finally hired a young lady to help out, but that means starting earlier and having to play supervisor to keep her busy and on projects that need to be done. I’m hoping that things start quieting down in the next month or so.
Kiri is drawing to a close. About 15 rows to completetion. Then I face trying to figure out what I screwed up with PNW Shawl. And I *really* need to finish the toe up socks.
Horses.. I realized the other day, that I’ve never posted pictures of our two horses. As the oldest members of the family, it’s a shame they haven’t been introduced before.
Horizontal Bop - yes, that’s his registered name - is a registered Arab gelding. He’s 20 years old and I’ve owned him since he was about 2 1/2 years.
Dan’s Roni - and yes, that’s her registered name - is a registered American x European Belgium draft mare. She’s nearly 19 years old and Eileen has owned her since she was about 1 1/2 years old.
Bop is 14.3 hands and Roni is 17 hands - Hands.
Bop on the left and Roni on the right.

Wow — she looks like she has a lot of torque! I like them tall so 17 is just about right. Bop is definitely a handome guy though. *sigh* I love horses… that love from my childhood will never fade.

Torque… If she *wants* to move the average human is not going to stop her. Eileen cracked a collarbone trying to prevent her from bolting.
Before we had our barn/hay storage built, we had hay stored in a lean-to attached to the shop on the property. Two 2×6 boards stacked on top of each other provided what we thought would be enough to prevent Roni from getting access to the hay. Nope.. She put her chest against the boards and pushed. We found her inside the storage area with splintered boards at the entrance.
Short legged, barrel chested, built to push or pull. Eileen says she’s the smoothest horse she’s ever ridden. With a *tiny* English saddle.
