Hej Jerry,

no big cable expert, but usually cables have a lot of stitches per inch, far more than moss stitch. So maybe the 'not under the moss stitch' decreasing is to even out the number of stitches per length overall?

Yes, Thomas has a point, but the other facet of the reason is to prevent what is called "Cable Splay" Because Ribbing pulls the fabric in a fair bit, the cables appear to splay, or flare atthe beginning unless you have decreases in place to compensate. I think that is what is meant by the instruction.

Hmm.. Some good points. Wish I had mentioned this before I completed over 800 stitches.

I'll probably just continue with the ribbing and see how it looks. I can just rip back if it doesn't look right .. Right??

Jerry, bunch or stretch some of the stitches on the needle as they would look when the weater is being worn, and if you have cable splay you will know immediately. The terminus of the cables will flare out rather than lying straight. Yes, you can always rip back, but that is no fun at all! :)
