New and *slightly* brighter day
After yesterday’s very down post, I woke feeling a bit more positive and hopeful. Still didn’t get a lot of knitting accomplished, but a much better attitude.
Eileen is doing well and once again the doctor is hopeful that the medication will alleviate and shorten most of the discomfort. It’s kind of amazing to see the virus spread along the the path of the nerves from her abdomen around to her spinal column.
I spent a large part of the morning and early afternoon watching our beautiful Oak tree turned into a pile of wood chips and a lot of firewood. The yard looks much neater now, but I’m not looking forward to this coming summer, as the tree provided a lot of afternoon shade for the house and I expect we’ll be a number of degrees warmer later in the year.
First shot is at about 8:00am this morning:
And the next is at about 10:30am:
My plans for tomorrow — unless another disaster raises it’s head — is to pick up stitches and knit at least a couple rounds on the body of the Aran. Wish me luck .. ![]()

Looks like a lot of the snow has melted. Sorry to hear of Eileen’s shingles. I’ve never had it but a friend has and said it was painful. This winter has been a bummer. I had a cold that seemed to last forever. Well, here’s to better health and wellbeing. Take care.

I am sorry to hear of Eileen’s shingles. I had them 2 years ago on the left side of my face and it was horrible. I hope she gets better soon. I took valtrex and major pain killers. Mine went all through my hair and near my eye. Sending warm wishes to both of you. Hug your beautiful cats for me.

I hope those shingles pass quickly. My landlady had them and suffered much. In Danish they are fittingly called ‘Hellfire’. As for the oak, try selling some of the larger pieces to a lumber yard, there may be some value in it. If not, you will have some fine hardwood fuel for your fireplace next winter.

Jerry, your yard looks nice and clean. Make some time to knit more than 2 rows. I’m glad Eileen is doing better.
