Hello. I have enjoyed browsing through your blog. The aran is gorgeous! I hope you don't mind answering a couple of questions I have. The first is what is the pattern you are using for the aran and where does it come from? The second is about your pictured socks. Are you using a basic sock pattern for it? What size needles are you using for the ribbing and what size are you using for the leg? I have a problem with the socks that I make in that the ribbing usually ends up tight and the leg part usually ends up being loose. Keep up the beautiful work. Sharon

Sharon.. Thanks for stopping by..

The aran was designed by Janet Szabo with help from the AranKnit list on yahoo. The full pattern is available from a back issue of her newsletter Twists and Turns (Spring 2001) or online at the following link.

The sock pattern is the basic pattern from Nancy Bush's 'Folk Socks'. The only change was the Eye of Partridge heel flap. I use only US#2 for sock yarns, but I seem to be a bit on the tight side when knitting with finer yarn and smaller needles. I'm getting about 8 stitches/inch on #2 and I've not had any problems.
