Old Fart and Gansey — Part II

September 3rd, 2003 Jerry 3 comments

I just want to thank everybody for their nice comments on the previous entry and photo. My life and knitting is a bit isolated from the rest of the world and it’s always nice to get feedback, especially on something that took up a large part of my mornings for 4 months.

I especially want to thank Beth Brown-Reinsel for dropping by and leaving a comment — How cool is that?..

And.. the Old Fart moniker is a long time inside/personal joke. My last job with Intel was with a group attempting to create a Linux based set-top box (e.g. WebTV) and it seemed that everybody working on the project, execpt managment, was about 26 years old and I was then about 52 plus along with nearly 20 years with Intel. It didn’t take long before nearly everybody was calling me Old Fart and it stuck for the nearly two years I worked on the project. Eileen picked it up somewhere along the line and has continued it’s use. Sometimes with love and sometimes with frustration… ;-)

And…. Knitting slump/blues. I’m starting to study the SOA pattern and considering yarns again. The Multidirectional scarf is history. I’ll let the yarn age for a while longer while I decide whether it’s what I want to use. DNA scarf is coming along nicely. Working the neck ribbing, which isn’t all that interesting but then it’s only 12 inches…
