Tiny Socks

The first sock I ever knitted was a little blue sock. I’d joined the sock knitters list and of course you *must* have a tiny blue sock. It was actually a dumb idea, as I’d never turned a heel, picked up stitches or decreased a gusset. The little blue sock took me two or three tries and still looks like crap, but I’m proud of it and it continues to hang on my knitting bag. The multi-color was somewhere further down the line. I’d knitted a few more full size socks and had left over yarn from the first pair I’d knitted for myself. This time things are a bit neater and there aren’t any raggedy split stitches.

Tiny Socks

And to carry this on, I’ve just ordered the pattern and needles (0000) for tiny sock earrings. Sometimes I wonder about my sanity….

Gansey update.. Six rows left on the final pattern section and then 4 or 5 more inches of straight stitch. A busy weekend ahead, so I don’t know when things are going to get done. Saturday is another day at the Great Oregon SteamUp. Tractor is already loaded and we’ll spend most of the day in Br ooks tomorrow. Sunday is race day. One of our best friends races Rabbits (Volkswagens, that is) and his last local race of the season is on Sunday. So another day in the sun, though it looks like things will be cooler than last weekend.

    cute little sockies :)

rabbit races… hehe woowoo! Racing stuff is just fun.

I was driving on North Bank Rd near Coquille yesterday and passed an old tractor on the side of the road. i would have got a shot of it, but i didn’t have my camera, but, weirdly, i said to my passenger, “hey there’s a guy who knits that would probably dig that thing”. I do hate to see things with engines rusting away in the blackberries :(

Now I know what to do with my Regia leftovers. You say you are questioning your sanity — I just think you want to prove you can do it or see how such a tiny sock works out. It’s the engineer part of we knitters I think!
