This world wouldn't be the same without butterflies, or birds either. Jerry, have you ever heard of The Magic Loop. I just got a little booklet on it and it's about knitting items even socks and smaller things like collars, ribbed cuffs and hats with would you believe it a 40" circular needle. It's interesting and I haven't tried it myself but did order the booklet. Sarah Hauschka has come up with this method and its pretty ingenious. I got the booklet at Fiber Trends (www.fibertrends.com). Sarah warns it can be awkkward at first and that you can even knit two tubes or socks at once. Thought you might find it interesting.

Tried the magic loop, but it's very cumbersome. I'd much prefer a smaller circular or the two needle method.

I notice you've got a blog up and running. I'll have to start dropping by.

wow, the sweater.. gansey? is coming along very nicely. I'm a non-knitter, so i have no idea what all the stuff is you talk about, but i do love the finished products!

And the butterflies, there have been a lot of them out here on the coast lately, too. I haven't been able to get pictures of any of them :(
