Continuing adventures of the Lace Garland Shawl
This crochet edging has become the hardest part of this project. There is 7 loops/repeat with 24 repeats around. I can only get about 2 repeats done until my back aches and I need to stop. I’m also really not satisfied with the tension I’m getting on the crochet chain loops. Some are longer and some are shorter, though some of that will probably even out when I block it. I’m just under half way done and it’s probably going to take a couple more days to finish.
Here’s a couple of shots from this morning. First one is in natural light and second with the flash. They show different details and I like that for my own records. You can click on the thumbnails for larger pictures of each.

This is just gorgeous! And I love the way the two pictures show up the different aspects. It really gives a good idea of the finished (almost there!) shawl..
You should be so proud of yourself after all the work you put in. Good luck with the crochet edging- I know how hard something like that can be. There’s a reason why I knit and don’t crochet

Crochet edging continues. I’m getting a bit faster, but it’s still a slow process.
Thanks for everybody’s comments.

I’ve decided to learn to crochet, or improve my skills since I already know how. I’ve never really liked the look of crochet but I recently saw a couple of scarves that I thought were gorgeous and they were crocheted. I’m taking heart that it will get easier as I go along. Your shawl is beautiful!

How beautiful! I’m glad you enjoy knitting so much. I have tried and tried to learn but I am all thumbs. Now crocheting I can do. Isn’t that odd? Maybe you really “can’t teach an old dog new tricks” after all.
