My blog has gone through a name change. The new name comes from the title of an 1997 article in the Christian Science Monitor. The *male* writer remembers when everyone in his boarding school knit, including the headmaster, the teachers, and the whole football team. Not many of us these days, but I’m a firm beliver that knitting can be and should be a ‘Manly Art’ as well as a ‘Womanly Art’.
Come on guys (and gals). Get out there. Knit in public. Help a new knitter. Get involved.

What is about knitters and their need to acquire fiber? I’m just getting back into knitting after nearly two years. Digging through the upstairs storage room, I found two big bags (you know those BIG clear bags UPS uses?) full of yarn. Mostly cones and mostly lighter weights, but also some nice stuff too. Cashmere yarn, Angora yarn, Qiviut yarn and fiber. I don’t know what I was thinking when I got this stuff, but I’m sure I’ll put to some good uses. And I’m already starting to drool over yarns in the latest Patterworks catalog (which arrived about 2 weeks before I started seriously knitting again).
Wandering through the Knitting Bloggers Ring, I see that I’m not alone. Most of us could start our own yarn stores
